Elderflower and Elderberry Shrub FAQ

A shrub is a drinking vinegar- in our case, an elderberry or elderflower drinking vinegar. Made from our elderberry juice or elderflower tea, raw organic apple cider vinegar with the mother, and organic sugar, it is refreshing with just a small kick of vinegar at the end.

We have a ready to drink shrub- already mixed with filtered water and ice cold. In addition, we have a shrub concentrate syrup. You bring this home with you and mix like this:

Elderflower: 1 part syrup: 3 parts liquid. Elderberry:1 part syrup: 6 parts liquid.

What can you mix it with? Water, sparkling water, iced tea, lemonade, ginger ale, are some examples. Make a cocktail by mixing 1 part shrub with 1 part tequila, vodka, rum, or gin, and top with sparkling water. Look up recipes for a bramble using a shrub.

We grow and harvest the elderflowers and elderberries used in our shrubs on our small family farm, just outside of Monroe, using regenerative agriculture and permaculture techniques. We are Certified Naturally Grown.

Elderflowers and elderberries come from the same bush- we harvest some of the elderflowers, and leave the rest to become berries.
