FOR SALE Yes, it’s true. Six Figs Farm is for sale. We are looking for the right person who can take the amazing potential we’ve created, and do even better with it than we did. Is that you?
FIRST, WHAT ARE WE OFFERING? A turnkey established regenerative farm, with the UGA soil tests to prove our astonishing results. We will be happy to introduce you, and endorse you, to our current customer base. We’ll help you transition to the farm life. The farm will include everything to grow, harvest, and sell elderberries, figs, muscadines, blueberries, gooseberries, pawpaws, persimmons, mulberries, aronia berries, wild blackberries, annual row crops, and much more. You can step right in and plan out your 2025 harvest.
THE SOIL We’ve practiced Regenerative Agriculture for 5 years now. In the beginning, we had old pastures with Georgia red clay. Now, we have fertile soil. Our soil test results show amazing changes that can be continued into the future, making the soil more and more nutrient dense, and reducing inputs- more info here. We were awarded the 2021 Conservationists of the Year for Walton County because of our systems. You can read more about that here and more about Regenerative Agriculture here .
ORGANIC POTENTIAL We have not used any dangerous pesticides or herbicides during the 7 years we’ve been here. We’ve gone above and beyond organic standards.
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION Strategically located for vibrant On Farm sales, numerous area Farmers Markets, as well as wholesale opportunities to restaurants and other retailers in the Atlanta, Athens and surrounding areas. This farm is surrounded by large properties, promising a suitable buffer from encroachment by any high density subdivisions. This is a fully operational and established turnkey farm, with enough acreage to expand and grow as you see fit.
SMALL FARM LIFE our kids have gotten to experience growing up with freshly harvested food that they helped plant, learning how to care for farm animals, and having the knowledge and understanding of where food comes from. As a family, we have been blessed to be part of bringing safe, fresh food to our customers tables, as a vital part of the local farm movement.
POTENTIAL So much financial potential in this farm business. We have brought the land to a high level of fertility via regenerative agriculture and gone beyond organic standards. We have built up already thriving income streams. In only three seasons of sales our gross income jumped from 2021 – $9,008 to 2022 – $22,067 to 2023 – $33,670. The opportunities are outstanding, with huge potential to increase much, much more.
FARM HOUSE The charming two-story brick farmhouse, that is solid and in great shape, is walk in ready for the small family, or offers an immediate rental revenue stream of $1500 to $1800 per month. Otherwise, there’s plenty of acreage, if you choose to build your dream house, and use the current house as a bunkhouse for your crew and/or guest house for visitors.
ESTABLISHED PERENNIALS Our established perennial crops include sizeable quantities of mature elderberries, figs, asparagus, and muscadines, among others – plants that take several years to begin harvest. Ours are already producing and you will be harvesting your very first season!
POTENTIAL EXPANSION IDEAS:
ELDERBERRIES– are easy to propagate and elderberry products are in high demand. We have currently about one acre of elderberries planted, roughly 300 bushes.
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)- People are really excited about CSA boxes- we sold out all 16 shares of our recent subscription in 2 hours on a Sunday morning. We prepped our customer base via the email list (then 835 subscribers), and they were enthusiastically asking to pay up front $300 each, for the 10 weeks of veggie boxes. CSA boxes with farm pickups, as well as drop off/pick up points, can be tremendously profitable in this area. As an ace in the sleeve, having asparagus and figs, as well as other perennial fruits and veggies, makes this farm’s CSA box extremely competitive in the market. The concept of CSA boxes guarantees that you have repeat customers coming to your farm, and they are willing to pay you before the season has even started. This is guaranteed income and guaranteed customer traffic to the farm! Many of the customers will then also purchase other items, while picking up their order, in the farm store. As an example,
In January, you sell 100 CSA boxes for 45 weeks of the year, at $35/box= income in the beginning of the year of $157,500.
LOCAL CHEFS AND RESTAURANTS– selling to local chefs is an option we haven’t explored, however it can be very profitable.
FARM WINERY WITH A TASTING ROOM- Off and on we have considered making and selling wines. Our current orchards with elderberries and muscadines can easily be expanded, as well as increased honey production for mead. In Georgia you can also get permission to sell from farm, in a Tasting Room, which will be yet another reason for customers to come to the farm. GA R&R – ORC
APIARY- We keep honeybees in our apiary, for plant pollination and honey. This property could support a much larger scale apiary, and customers are educated and excited about the health benefits of honey local to them.
FARMERS MARKETS- the farm is conveniently located within 10-50 miles of many Monroe, Atlanta, Athens, Walton County, Gwinnett County, Morgan County, and Barrow County farmers markets, as well as “Farm Stores”. There are an almost unlimited number of places to sell produce. Selling at several farmers markets increases your business exponentially. You can also offer your CSA customers to pick up their box at a Farmers Market you attend, saving them the drive time.
MARKET WAGON, as well as small farm stores in the area– there are many small farm stores that offer produce from local farms. We’re happy to tell you about them.
