Anise Hyssop Tea

Anise hyssop- I have heard it called licorice mint, or sometimes lavender mint. It has a vaguely minty, mild licorice taste that we love in my family. A cup of hot anise hyssop tea with a dollop of honey is one of our favorite mid-afternoon treats.

We grow anise hyssop around many of our plants. It’s perennial, and likes to spread. Pollinators adore it, and you can often see bumblebees curled up sleeping in it. We cut it back when it grows where we don’t want it, and enjoy it as tea, or raw in salads. This year, my kids made ice cream flavored with anise hyssop. It might sound a bit weird, but it was SO good.

In our little cottage food kitchen, we have crafted some anise tea for you to try, too. The only ingredients are dehydrated anise hyssop leaves and anise hyssop flowers from our own farm. We do not use harmful pesticides here. And, no worries, we left plenty of flowers for the pollinators!
